High Resolution Acoustic and Movement SEAL-DTags

Our Biologging Tag Solutions can record acoustic, movement, and GPS data at a high sampling rate to study fine-scale foraging strategy, prey field and the acoustic environment of marine predators.

These devices are specifically designed to minimise the hydrodynamic drag, ensuring less impact on the animal.

Standard SEAL-DTag (Acoustic tag)

Non-rechargeable* SEAL-DTag fitted with the following sensors:

Depth (50Hz)
Audio (Mid (up to 44kHz) or High (up to 144kHz) frequency)
3D acceleration (up to 1kHz) and magnetometer (50Hz)
Snapshot GPS (up to every 5s)

Attachment method: Adhesive: glue, epoxy...

Suited for: seabirds (penguins, albatrosses, gannets...), otariids, phocid seals, sharks, turtles...

2 standard models:

3AA: 96 × 62 × 20 mm, 155g. Up to 4 weeks recording**

2AA: 80 × 40 × 33 mm, 200g. Up to 3 weeks recording**

*batteries can be replaced between deployments at an extra cost.

** Recording duration estimates varies with configuration, temperature and power settings.
